"As a child, the film I loved to watch most of all was 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. So in 2002 when Mum handed our
Chocolate Factory over to me my childhood dreams became a reality. Mum started making luxury hand made chocolates in the heart of the Peak District in 1988.
Spurred on by a passionate belief in a hand-made approach, she crafted the most delicious centres from the best quality, ethically sourced
ingredients, to her own unique recipes. She set about recruiting locally and gathered a team of enthusiastic staff who trained to become
expert chocolatiers, and with a modicum of space and lots of enthusiasm, Holdsworth Chocolates took off. Theobroma cacao is the latin name
for the tree which yields the precious cocoa bean. Literally translated it means 'food of the Gods'. We regard the couvertures produced
from this bean with great respect and we intend to maintain our uncompromisingly high standards so that when you enjoy our luxury hand made chocolates you
will know that they are the best. Holdsworth Chocolates are one of the very few original chocolate makers, producing exquisite chocolates
and truffles, each one crafted entirely by hand using only the finest natural ingedients available. At our factory in Bakewell each chocolate
is made individually with great skill and artistry. In order to create our fresh chocolates we first whip together sweet cream butter and the
best couverture. We then add liqueurs, spirits, fruit purees or praline paste to produce more than fifty delicately flavoured creamy centres.
Our plain couverture has a minimum cocoa solids content of 70% and the milk and white couvertures are equally impressive.
